The Kitsilano Showboat Society announced this week that they are postponing the 2020 Showboat season “until the current situation improves so that we are able to have large gatherings again”.

There is nothing more that we would love to do here at Showboat than to put on a summer season of shows dedicated to those that have taken care of us during this pandemic. Besides, I think we could really use some good news right now. However we must follow the guidelines of the City of Vancouver, the province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada to ensure the safety of our volunteers, performers and audiences.

This is the first time in 85 years that the non-profit, volunteer led organization has missed a season.

But don’t count them out entirely, Society President Barry Leinbach hinted at a possible online show to keep their streak alive.
