The two-and-a-half minute video below, created by Spencer Watson and titled ‘Come Together Stay Apart,’ shows downtown Vancouver’s typically bustling streets in a state that could, if not for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only be described as post-apocalyptic.

Watson made this video “for those choosing to stay indoors and socially isolating, to show them that staying home does make a difference. That they also aren’t missing out on anything behind the walls of their home. And as a testament to the great job they’ve been doing while the frontline works to protect us and the beautiful city we call home.”

Watson’s video could serve as the opening act for a new crowdsourcing campaign launched by the Museum of Vancouver, tagged #IsolatingTogetherMOV.

The Museum is inviting the public to share videos, writings, hobbies, performances, and more on Instagram and Twitter by including the hashtag #IsolatingTogetherMOV. There is also an open Facebook Group dedicated to the collection of these stories of isolation.

The content collected by the various platforms will be curated and showcased on central webpage on the MOV website, where a social wall is embedded that features all posts containing the hashtag.

Stories of isolation, sourced from around the world, are also showcased on the site, along with resources and links to various social groups, videos, podcasts, and articles.
