We’ve been noticing an interesting trend in Kitsilano.ca’s web stats lately.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began and health officials started urging the public to practice social distancing, or simply avoiding going out in public at all, traffic to a 15 year-old blog post titled Kits Beach Webcam continues to grow daily.

We suspect that the uptick in interest is thanks to B.C.’s Dr. Bonnie Henry being very, very clear with regards to social distancing.

In a press conference yesterday, Henry once again repeated just how crucial it is for everyone to avoid groups and large gatherings in order to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

“Again this is not forever,” she said. “But right now we need to be in small groups… one or two of us. And we need to maintain our distance with others. We must be united in these efforts and we need to build that firewall and make sure we keep it as strong as we can and that there are no gaps.”

Unfortunately not everyone is heeding Henry’s warnings and Kitsilano Beach patrons are guilty.

And while there have been reports of people not taking this advice seriously, it appears that many residents are doing so, and there are pictures to prove it.
