Join Charles Luong from Roots on the Roof, UBC’s sustainable food organization, for an informative planting workshop at the Museum of Vancouver’s recently developed Backyard Garden on August 15th.

Participants will learn proper planting techniques and caring of unique Asian vegetables not typically found in Western grocery stores. Garden bed planting demonstrations of Sui Choi (Napa Cabbage), Bak Choi, Scallions and Gai Lan (Chinese Kale / Chinese Broccoli) will be discussed and planted.

The workshop will encourage participants to harvest vegetables from the MOV’s backyard garden and create their own take away “Vegetable Bouquet.”

Participants will additionally design take away planters which will house provided seeds and allow participants the opportunity to care for their growth in an environment of their choosing.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the care for unique vegetables and the horticultural traditions of Vancouver’s Chinese backyard gardens.

The workshop takes place on Thursday, August 15th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.
