At Tune Builders Rock Camps, campers experience what it’s like to be in a band: learning, playing, writing and recording music.

But they use the word “rock” loosely as all genres of music are welcome. And at Tune Builders all levels of musicians from beginner to advanced.

Tune Builders was founded by David Beckingham, singer-songwriter and guitarist for Juno-nominated band Hey Ocean! after a decade of experience running rock camps for Vancouver kids and teens.

This year Tune Builders is offering 3 week-long rock camps during August.

In the beginning of the week, campers (or Builders) get familiar with the instruments, including drum kits, guitars, bass guitars and keyboards. They then learn cover songs by their favourite bands from The Beatles or AC/DC to The White Stripes or The Lumineers and everything in between.

By mid-week they are learning how to jam as a group and write their own songs. Builders then start recording their band’s original song. The week ends with a concert for family and friend where Builders show off their new skills. Builders leave with their own recorded song, a new group of friends and tons of fun memories from a week of making music.

All instructors at the camps are professional musicians. Throughout the week, other professional musicians will visit to share their talent and insight.
