The first thing you notice upon entering the new Warby Parker store on West 4th Avenue might be the vibrant mural that Vancouver-based artist Sebastian Curi created just for the space.

Throughout the rest of the space, you’ll find design details reminiscent of a library. Think: marble-topped tables, colorful displays of books, and brass accents galore, plus our full collection of eyeglasses and sunglasses on oak shelving.

The library theme doesn’t stop there. On the shelves alongside their eyewear, they have a selection of novels for sale and complimentary maps of the best places to sit and read a book in the Kitsilano.

A unique local touch for the brand’s very first store in British Columbia.

To celebrate the opening, Warby Parker has created a style of sunglasses completely exclusive to Vancouver: the oversized, angular Lowry frame in Jet Black Matte with Flash Mirrored Silver lenses (below).

If you want to try on frames before you even set foot in the new store – they’ve got you covered with a brand-new tool within the Warby Parker iOS app, called Virtual Try-On. The app helps customers find their perfect-fitting frame, anywhere and anytime, before you’ve technically put it on your face.

Warby Parker officially opens in Kitsilano on Saturday, February 23rd with The Juice Truck on-site for free drinks. But the festivities don’t stop there, on Sunday, February 24th they’ll have artist Sebastian Curi on-site signing poster versions of his mural.

They’ve also partnered with Vancouver illustrator Hiller Goodspeed to create a coin-operated artwork dispenser—the first of its kind  at a Warby Parker store! Just insert 50¢, and you’ll receive a small, hand-drawn piece by Hiller. Each work is one of a kind, and all proceeds benefit The Writers’ Exchange.
