Get out of the rain and head above the clouds for some snowshoeing fun at one of these North Shore mountains, all less than an hour’s drive away from Kitsilano.

Be sure to wear waterproof hiking boots or winter boots and layered, waterproof clothing. Also have an emergency kit in your backpack that includes extra clothes, food, water, shelter, and a first aid kit.

Grouse Mountain‘s Munday Alpine Snowshoe Park has groomed beginner and intermediate snowshoe trails and a Snowshoe Grind for an extra intense snowshoe workout. Grouse Mountain also has various guided snowshoe tours including ones for new parents and those that are 50+. Park tickets cost $44.95 for adults and include the Skyride gondola and seasonal entertainment on the mountain. Rentals cost $20.

Cypress Mountain has 11 km of safe, in-bounds self-guided snowshoe trails that run through subalpine meadows and the snowy mountain forests of Hollyburn Ridge. Trail passes cost just $12 for adults or get a combo of trail pass plus rental for $30.

Mt Seymour, home of the awesome Dog Mountain trail, offers loads of fun, guided snowshoe tours including ones with chocolate fondue at the end. Tours for new parents and exercise classes are also available. Self-guided trail passes are only $9.50 for adults or get a combo of trail pass plus rental for $27.
