You have probably walked by it a dozen times, but how well do you actually know Kitsilano Neighbourhood House?

Kits House is a registered non-profit, located at 7th & Vine, dedicated to meeting the needs of those most vulnerable as well as providing an opportunity for everybody in our community to get together and be engaged. We host a variety of programs throughout the year, with several taking place this summer. Stop by and check some of them out!

Westside Community Food Markets

Starting on June 28th, the corner of 7th & Vine is going to transform into a community market space. Every Thursday until September 23rd stop by Kits House to check out a number of vendors selling local, sustainably produced foods as well as arts and crafts.

Summer Series: English Conversation Circles in our Neighbourhood

English Conversation Circles will be taking place during the rest of the year, but this summer, it’s on the move! Sessions will be held at different locations throughout Vancouver, and involve a host of different activities. ECC’s are a great opportunity for newcomers to practice English, build confidence, and meet new people. The summer series is open to all levels – registration information is on our website.

Kits in the Park

Kits in the Park is a drop-in program for caregivers and families with children 0 to 6 years old and features a ton of different activities including circle time, sand toys, arts and crafts, playground, and a waterpark. It’s a great opportunity to meet other families in the community!

Older Adults & Seniors Programs

There are a ton of different programs for seniors and older adults running throughout the summer. Every Tuesday, Seniors Drop-in takes place in the Kits House Community Hall, where you can join neighbours and friends for light exercise, conversation, and a delicious meal! Entertainment will always be provided after lunch. There’s also the Seniors Friendship group, which meets every Wednesday, and the Coffee Group for the Newly Retired, on the first and third Thursday of every month. And keep an eye out for the next Seniors Out trip.

Counselling Sessions

Kits House partners with Dragonstone Counselling and offers counselling sessions on a sliding scale session fee to its members. The counselling is provided by students completing their Masters Degree in Counselling, and options include one-on-one sessions, or with a family member or spouse. You can book an appointment via Kits House.

Casino Night

Casino Night is Kits House’s annual fundraising event, where you can enjoy a pop-up Casino without having to go downtown. Tickets are $35, and you can enjoy dressing up with your friends, munching on some tasty canapes, enjoying the entertainment, and using the $100 fun money we’ll give you at the door to gamble the night away! The event will also feature a silent auction, and all proceeds will go towards Kits House programs. Save-the-date, tickets are on sale soon!

NSG Projects

The Neighbourhood Small Grants program supports community members so that they can launch projects that bring their community together. A ton of different projects are taking place throughout the summer, several of which are taking place at Kits House.
