Block parties, drinks, flicks, and Father’s Day – that’s what on this weekend in our Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Friday, June 15th

Start your afternoon with a beer tasting at 3pm at Darby’s Liquor Store on Macdonald Street. They are featuring Burnaby based, Belgian-style, and award-winning Dageraad Brewing for this particular tasting. Afterwards, catch a flick at Fifth Avenue Cinemas on Burrard Street tonight – Solo: A Star Wars Story is our pick.

Saturday, June 16th

Today and tomorrow our neighbourhood will be hosting block parties to celebrate Car Free Day, so wander around, meet your neighbours, and make some new friends! Or just eat all their food and move on to the next block party.

Bard on the Beach in Vanier Park still has some tickets available for their tragedy play Macbeth performance tonight at 7:30pm. Then head to The Manchester sports dive bar on West Broadway for $3 highballs and cheap shots of Jack Daniels after 10pm, plus they’ll have a DJ for some late night dancing.

Sunday, June 17th

It’s Father’s Day today and if you haven’t planned anything specific yet, start the day off at the Kitsilano Farmers Market. Let him pick his favourite ingredients for the dinner you and the kids will attempt to make him tonight. Some of the food trucks on site for today will be the Chili Tank (awesome chili), Feastro the Rolling Bistro (awesome tacos), and Melt City (awesome grilled cheese sandwiches), so perfect for dad and the kids.

Sundays at Rocky Mountain Flatbread on West 1st Avenue are their Family Pizza Making nights so that could be a Father’s Day option as well. Kids 12 and under get to make their own pizzas for $8.50 while their adult guardians can sit back and try to relax with a pint or three.
