It’s May Long Weekend this weekend.

Here’s what’s on in our Kitsilano neighbourhood, from live music to country music, a beachside lunch, a new movie, and some farmers market shopping.

Friday, May 18th

Watch a new roots live music performance by Juno award-winning duo Pharis & Jason Romero at the St James Hall tonight. Marc Jenkins on pedal steel and Patrick Metzger on bass will join them for this much-anticipated evening. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $28 per person.

Saturday, May 19th

It’s going to be a gorgeous Vancouver day today so enjoy it beachside and have lunch at The Galley Patio & Grill. They’ll be open from noon till 7pm today, weather permitting. Their pub-style menu includes burgers, fish & chips, fish tacos, poutine, plus a kids menu, local craft beers on tap, and ice cream for dessert.

Sunday, May 20th

Stroll over to the Kitsilano Farmers Market today, anytime from 10am till 2pm. Try the new organic, low gluten baked goods from Whistler-based Rising Knead Bakery, craft beers from East Van’s Doan’s Brewing Co., wine from Vancouver Island’s Rocky Creek Winery, and for a snack, see what the Chinese food truck Le Tigre has today.

Later in the afternoon, anytime after 4pm, check out Corduroy‘s mix of old and new country music along with $10 beer and wings specials to end the day.

Monday, May 21st

It’s Victoria Day today – a holiday for many of you. Be lazy and watch the new Deadpool 2 matinee at Fifth Avenue Cinemas and see if you can spot any of the Vancouver-based filming locations.
