Here’s what’s on this weekend in our Kitsilano neighbourhood, from excellent live jazz to beautiful maritime photography, a delicious brunch, and a fun (and free) belly dance class.

Friday, April 27th

The Rogue Club is featuring jazz bands Pearl Django and the Company B Jazz Band tonight at the St. James Hall. Doors will open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $28.

Saturday, April 28th

The Vancouver Maritime Museum is exhibiting Sea Snaps: Marine Photography by Maria Steernberg from now until October. This exhibition highlights the beauty of Vancouver’s maritime setting and our beautiful coastline through a series of themes; the working waterfront, cruising, nature, and disaster.

Sunday, April 29th

Today is official brunch day, right? Even if it’s not, you have to try it today at Au Comptoir, The Oakwood, or Mission – these are some of the best spots in the neighbourhood to sip a refreshing cocktail, to bite into a warm slice of thick French toast, and to savour the delicateness of a perfectly poached egg.

Work off that big brunch you just had and try out a free trial Belly Dance Class at the Kitsilano Community Centre this evening from 4:30pm till 6pm. Enjoy moving to the sensuous melodies and dynamic rhythms of the Middle East with Devorah, a professional dancer and experienced teacher for over 15 years. Belly dance is an excellent way to get fit, have fun, and connect with your body in a very positive way. Students are invited to bring a friend to this free class.
