May Events in Kitsilano

EventsNews

The rain is slowly subsiding. Patios are beginning to spill along the sidewalks. The evenings are getting noticeably longer. This is the time of year we’ve been waiting for, and there are loads of fun, local events happening as well.

Here’s just a sample of what we’ve got to look forward to next month in our Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Kits Beach Volleyball – Tuesday, May 1st

Beach volleyball hosted by the Kitsilano Community Centre starts tonight from 6:30pm till 8:30pm. This is a co-ed game for beginner to intermediate level players. Participants should have an understanding of the rules and have basic skills (bump, set, spike, and serve). Meet at the south volleyball courts at Kits Beach. $5.71 for drop-ins, space permitting.

Kitsilano Farmers Market – Sunday, May 6th

It’s back – everyone’s favourite outdoor grocery store. Hit it early, every Sunday, from 10am till 2pm at the Kitsilano Community Centre parking lot, from May till October. Expect over 50 vendors offering their locally grown and crafted goods, plus some awesome onsite food trucks, live music, and plenty of people and dog watching.

BMO Vancouver Marathon – Sunday, May 6th

Take part or cheer on the dedicated runners as they pass through our neighbourhood somewhere around the 25km to 29km mark for this annual marathon.

Kitsilano Centennial Celebration – Saturday, May 12th

The Kitsilano Secondary School is hosting its Centennial Celebration today from 10am till 4pm. Join other former students, administrators, teachers, and staff at the school and explore the rich history that makes Kitsilano such an amazing place to be.
