Another day, another new restaurant in the hood, but we’re not complaining. Especially when it’s a healthy vegetarian eatery and a poke hotspot.

Pitchfork

Located in the old Planet Veg location right next door to Corduroy, vegetarian restaurant Pitchfork is already attracting a decent local crowd since its official opening day on Saturday, March 10th. Offering a daily breakfast menu until 3pm that includes freshly squeezed juices, omelette-stuffed sandwiches, a veggie hash, and a breakfast wrap, Pitchfork is perfectly suitable for the neighbourhood. The menu also includes light bites and heartier lunch options, and, of course, they happily cater to vegan and gluten-free dietary needs. Try their delicious desserts too, if you have room.

Pacific Poke

Poke take-out counters aren’t a new thing in Vancouver, and Pacific Poke wasn’t even the first poke restaurant to open in the city. But. They are probably the best, and lucky for us, they are opening their third location in our neighbourhood. Poke is traditionally a Hawaiian dish, but Pacific Poke has it’s own Japanese and West Coast spin on it, and their menu continues to evolve. You can choose from building your own poke bowl, starting with a base of either organic rice or salad, then they’ll add your chosen raw and seasoned seafood, your favourite sauce, and some savoury toppings, all in a fresh flash. You can also order a chef-inspired bowl, plus they have poke paninis, soup, and interesting juice concoctions to complete your meal. Quick, fresh, and tasty, if you can’t wait to try it (since the Kits location is not quite open yet, soon though…), go to their Chinatown or UBC location first.
