It’s perfect patio weather this week so get outside and enjoy it (while it lasts).

And while we appreciate the spacious and busy Kitsilano patios of the Local, Las Margaritas, and Darby’s, we’d like to suggest trying out one of these three outdoor spots – all are on the tiny side but have great people-watching potential, an inviting atmosphere, and refreshing drinks.

Lucky Taco

The patio of this friendly taqueria on Yew Street is ideal for observing beach goers and other patio occupants at next-door lively Chewies. Opened just under a year ago, Lucky Taco has drink specials every day and they are paired well with a plate of their delicious nachos. If you’re coming with a group (or are really thirsty), try their fishbowl-sized margaritas. Bonus – Lucky Taco stays open till 2am.

Elwood’s

This long-standing rustic bar on West Broadway is best known for its budget-friendly drink and food specials. What other place in town can beat $4 craft beer pitchers and $6 steak and fries? Elwood’s is also known for its excellent service and easy-going vibe that extends right outside to their cozy wooden patio. They’re not shy about turning up the tunes either.

Kahve

For more serene surroundings and the kind of beverages that inspire higher learning rather than hangovers, have a look at newish Kahve. This concept store pours Phil and Sebastian coffee, serves light snacks such as avocado toast, and sells modern European housewares. They have a few tables and chairs outside overlooking the Seaforth Peace Park along West 1st Avenue and Burrard Street.
