If you have a child between 5 and 14, chances are high, they are in the throes of a fidget spinning obsession which may be driving you crazy.

For those that are unaware of this global craze, a fidget spinner is a toy like a top, but spun in the hand rather than on a surface.

The user holds a pad at the center, and flicks one of three rounded blades. The spinner rotates around a bearing at the center. The light weight of the device and the low friction of the bearing allows it to spin for a long time.

But what is it for? The fidget spinner has been framed as just a toy—but also as a stress-relief tool, a classroom menace, a treatment for ADHD, and a possible salve to smartphone addiction, among other things.

So, where can you pick up a fidget spinner this week in Kitsilano? You’ve got a couple options in the ‘hood:

We’ve confirmed that both stores currently have them in stock.

Can’t be bothered to make the trek, pick up two for $15 from Up in Arms online.

Amy’s Loonie Twonie town has a good selection of regular ones, metal ones and lit up ones. And they are a lot more reasonably priced than any other store in Kits that I’ve seen.
