I constantly love to remind people that technically I’m ‘European’.

This is usually when I’m being berated about how bland English food is. I stand by the statement, I’m technically European, so I love acting all pretentious in a place that serves solid European food.

Café Lokal does exactly that – it serves up some solid European, specifically Italian, grub.  I enjoy visiting their venue on West 4th Avenue because I get to forget, if only for an hour or two, that I’m from the country that decided to name a town Crapstone.

Their food is top notch and their coffee is dark, heavy and Italian style. I’m not the biggest fan of Italian dark roasts myself, but if you’re fond of the heavy and strong coffee beans then this is your place.

Vancouver Coffee Snob Recommendation: Their baguettes with prosciutto are amazing and if you’re lucky you’ll find a lighter roast coffee to accompany it. Regardless of what you eat there, don’t leave without trying their Tiramisu, which is going to ruin all other Tiramisus for you.

Thank you very much for your review. We are happy you enjoy your visit. Just a small correction. The coffee that we serve is a medium roast from Casa del Caffè, and it is called Espresso Roma. Thanks again 🙂
