Back when I was a kid I used to love Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake day.

You see, in the UK crepes are called pancakes. Now that I’m a giant version of the child I was, complete with similar maturity but a bigger wallet, I was ecstatic to find that crepes are bloody everywhere in Vancouver.

Café Gypsy Rose is a rough looking but really great crepe and coffee house, half way up the hill on West 4th. It’s a perfect stop for when you need a break from loading up on Lululemon yoga pants, Arc’Teryx ski jackets and $150 candles.

The staff are great, the food is cooked to perfection and their coffee is delicious (they use a new local roaster called Groundswell, who we’re so impressed by that we included them on our recent coffee shop tours).

Vancouver Coffee Snob Recommendation: Keep it simple with a lemon-sugar crepe and pair that with a decadent latte or cappuccino. If you’re still hungry then their ham and swiss crepe is a must if you’re more of a savory person.
