On average, Kitsilano’s Beyond Bread produces 100 to 250 naturally leavened loaves per day.

Earlier this month the bakery was profiled in Monte Cristo Magazine and writer Francesca Bianco told the story of Kits’ favourite artisan bakery.

Tucked near the corner of West 4th and Alma, Beyond Bread is a bakery dedicated to its community and they are dedicated to it; on many days the line is out the door.

Beyond Bread is not trying to be the hippest joint in Vancouver, favouring craft and quality over shiny surfaces. The bakery participates in wholesale and farmers’ markets, and works directly alongside Social Coffee. It also sells Phil & Sebastian coffee beans, Six Legs Good Apiaries honey from East Vancouver, and much more.

Open from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday and from 8am to 5pm on Sunday, Beyond Bread publishes a weekly schedule online so bread lovers know what time the ciabattas are ready every day and what one day of the week that schwarzbrot (90% whole rye grain) makes an appearance.

Beyond Bread is located at 3686 West 4th Avenue. Read Bianco’s complete piece in Monte Cristo here.
