Anyone notice the giant line at the corner of West 4th and Arbutus yesterday?
More than 300 people lined up early Tuesday morning in front of Reigning Champ – dozens of them overnight in the freezing cold – along West 4th to buy a pair of limited-edition Adidas Ultraboost sneakers.
Hours after the the popular trainers in grey and black wool went on sale at Reigning Champ, pairs started turning up on Craigslist at a 500 per cent markup.
While they retail in Canada for $260, shoppers waiting in line to buy the rare kicks speculated that the shoes could fetch upwards of $600 in Europe.
Little did they know that a couple pairs of the elusive shoes would end up for sale in Vancouver later in the day for $1,500 each.
