Spring has (nearly) sprung and Lucky’s Doughnuts is ringing in the season with the blossoming Sakura doughnut. Customers will be able to satisfy their sweet tooth from Thursday, March 24, 2016 — the official start of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival — through to April 14 for $5 a pop, while supplies last.

Lucky’s Sakura doughnuts are classic filled Bismarcks infused with Japanese Sakura blossoms and filled with house-made sweet red bean paste. They’re then topped off with a strawberry-Sakura glaze, a dollop of matcha meringue and a mini Sakura blossom shortbread cookie. Each Sakura doughnut comes in a beautiful, custom-designed box, making it the perfect treat to bring friends and family over Easter weekend.

Sakura has been one of the more interesting fresh ingredients that Lucky’s Doughnuts co-founder Colter Jones has had the opportunity to work with. “Why Sakura?,” he says. “We’re always up to experiment with new flavours and bring our customers something that they’ve never tried before.” The doughnuts will be available in very limited amounts due to the supply of salt-packed Sakura blossoms we’ve imported from Japan.”

And limited they are: Lucky’s Sakura doughnuts will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis each day. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! Due to high demand, doughnuts will be limited to six per person. Do you think they’ll notice if we come back with a fake mustache and a trench coat?

Just what Vancouver needs, more unhealthy deep fried, white flour, sugared junk food. Putting matcha green tea on top does not make it healthy.
