You’d expect the corsairs at Pirate Joe’s to think outside the box/standard retail shop. They did not disappoint. While we count down the days until the wrecking ball smashes up their current digs on West 4th across from Safeway, they’re busy plotting their new location.

“Word is the wrecking ball won’t swing for another month or two so pirate operations as usual until then,” said owner Mike Hallat, in a comment on our post about the real estate changes. “What if we built a wooden pirate ship in someone’s yard in Kits and operated out of that? I don’t see how we could get in that much trouble…”

Demolition is at least six weeks away according to the City Building Department which has not yet received an application for a demolition permit. According to Pirate Joe’s, a Kits resident suggested a hayride-like courtesy car service from 4th over to their new (unknown) spot on Main. They’re considering it.

But in the mean time, which Kits resident can volunteer their lot? And do you know any clever carpenters? Otherwise, we’re going to lose Pirate Joe’s to Main Street. You can sign up to their email list to keep up to date on their plans.
