You’re wrapping up office Christmas parties, and looking for something peaceful and lovely to do with the people you care about most. It’s time to go bask in Vancouver Christmas lights.

Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge: Now through January 3

The already breathtaking suspension bridge is decked out in a dazzling outfit of twinkly lights. The display is open 11am to 9pm. Regular entry tickets ($38 for adults; deep discounts for students, seniors and kids; 6 and under are free), which aren’t cheap, give you access to holiday fun. Christmas activities including cookie decorating begin at 4pm.

VanDusen Festival of Lights: now through December 31

A truly magical winter wonderland with over 1 million lights decorating 15 acres of VanDusen Botanical Garden. This year they’ve expanded by 5 acres. Expect indoor entertainment, dancing lights, storytelling from VPL, Christmas gnomes, photos with Santa, food trucks, amazing selfie spots & more. Open daily, from 4:30pm, rain or shine until December 31. Adult tix are $19 and it goes down from there for seniors, students, teens, kids etc.

Bright Nights at Stanley Park: now through January 2

Our pick for best family Christmas light show, hands down. Every December, Stanley Park’s famous train transforms into the Christmas Train and takes riders on a journey through a forest of twinkling lights and splendid Christmas displays. Along with the train ride, Bright Nights includes a chance to visit Santa. Tix start at $11 for adults. You can buy them in advance online.

50-foot Vancouver Christmas Tree at Jack Poole Plaza: now through New Year’s

This is classic Christmas and it’s FREE. Go gaze. Hold hands. If you spend, splurge on mulled wine or cocoa.

Burnaby Village Museum Heritage Christmas: now through January 1

Stroll through the streets of the Village and check out the wreaths, cedar swags and vintage-themed light displays. At the bandstand, visitors can create their own magical holiday show with new full-globe lights that twinkle and change colours to sound. Special entertainment is scheduled throughout the season including theatre performances, community choirs, street characters and musicians. Many family favourite activities are back including a craft for children, baking in the Farmhouse and, of course, visits with Father Christmas. Free admission. Carousel rides for about $3.
