One of West 4th’s oldest residents has recently received an overwhelming upgrade. LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, located on 4th Avenue between Yew and Vine, has been closed for the majority of July for a complete overhaul, bringing the 15 year old shop up to par with its neighbours and with the other LUSH stores in the lower mainland. The Lush Kits shop reopens Monday, August 3, with a grand opening party scheduled for August 22.

The renovated shop’s design is inspired by the feeling of a cozy home’s kitchen. With sleek stainless steel dining room tables, plenty of comfortable seating, and walls lined with stocked shelving, the shop feels like you’re walking into a welcoming friend’s house. The market-style product – bath bombs displayed like produce, soap rounds cut and wrapped like cheese at a deli, and face masks housed in a salad bar – just begs to be devoured.

A major feature of this new LUSH shop is its perfume collection. LUSH is predominantly known for its signature scent wafting down 4th Avenue for several blocks, and while this fragrance is rightly attributed to the naked bath product and essential oil-laden lotions, LUSH has carried a best-selling perfume collection for almost 30 years. Fragrances like Breath of God – a complex mixture layering grapefruit, sandalwood and black pepper – and Imogen Rose – a sentimental story combining rose and vetivert – are the heart and soul of LUSH. They are now one of the highlights of this revamped store, ready for new customers and regulars alike to discover strangely familiar scents.

The sales ambassadors at LUSH West 4th are eager to take each customer on a journey through their new store. A long time coming, this renovation is expected to increase traffic not only for this shop, but for the entire neighbourhood. LUSHies (an endearing term for LUSH fanatics) are sure to come from far and wide for the unveiling of this charming old shop’s new look. LUSH is back and better than ever.
