Thursday, June 4th, marks the start of the annual Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival in Kitsilano’s Vanier Park. Celebrating its 26th season in 2015, Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit professional Shakespeare festivals. Last year these iconic white tents hosted over 100,000 patrons, so tickets sell out fast and have been on sale since April, though some are still available! The season will run till September 26th this year with ticket prices starting at $26. We’ve listed the quick details for you below.

The Comedy of Errors performance begins the Festival’s summer long celebration of Shakespeare on the BMO Mainstage in Victorian steampunk style. Also on the BMO Mainstage will be the classic tragedy, King Lear, presented in collaboration with Theatre Calgary.

On the Howard Family Stage, an adaptation of Love’s Labour Lost will bring a 1920s Chicago feel to the intimate Douglas Campbell Theatre tent, complete with live jazz music. Joining Love’s Labour’s Lost is the world stage premiere of Shakespeare’s Rebel. This C.C. Humphreys adaptation is from his best-selling adventure novel of the same name.

Special events this year will include the popular Bard-B-Q & Fireworks nights: Saturday, July 25th, Wednesday July 29th & Saturday, August 1st – includes a play, salmon dinner, on-site entertainment, and exclusive fireworks viewing. Tickets start at $95 and very few are left.
