This weekend promises to be a hot one! Perfect for trying out a cool, sweet treat in our neighbourhood and beyond. Here is our list of the 5 best ice cream shops in Vancouver.

5 Best Ice Cream Shops in Vancouver

1.  Rain or Shine Ice Cream
As our very own Kitsilano ice cream shop (though they do have a new location at Cambie and 18th), Rain or Shine is always in our good books. They make their own waffle cones! Portions are generous and you can sample as much as you’d like. Best flavours? Blueberry Balsamic, Lemon Squared, and their make-your-own sundaes.

2. Earnest Ice Cream
It helps that their second location, which recently opened by the Olympic Village, is closer to our Kitsilano neighbourhood. The line-ups are still killer but they do move fast, and, if you just want to pick up a pint of their ice cream there’s an express lane for that. Also, their pints are available at several retailers including Stong’s Market in Dunbar and Edible Canada on Granville Island. Best flavours? The Salted Caramel and the Whiskey Hazelnut. But do try the Matcha Green Tea, the Cardamom, and the 33 Acres of Malt, when available.

3. Bella Gelateria
For gelato, this place can’t seem to be beat. Long line-ups here too, and it’s pricey, but oh-so-delicious. Their award-winning flavours are intense and memorable, and change seasonally. Take your treat outside around the corner for a beautiful view of Downtown’s waterfront. Best flavours? There’s a long list so it really depends on you but we recommend trying some unusual ones like the Black Sesame, the Toasted Pecan, and the Buko Pandan.

4. Darcy’s Cafe
This cafe in Point Grey, which is already one of our favourites, is just about to serve up their home-made soft serve with a choice of tempting toppings, and most of their ingredients are local and often organic. It’s super kid-friendly here and usually full of strollers, but the newly built little patio outside has a few quiet spots if that’s more to your liking.

5. Soft Peaks
At the edge of Gastown where dapper meets destitute, Korean-brothers-owned Soft Peaks is doing the lunch crowd a sweet favour with their newish soft serve ice cream shop. Made with local Avalon organic milk and famously topped with real chunks of local honeycomb, these make for quite a special dessert. Best flavours? The aforementioned Honeycomb Peak, plus the Mudslide and the Green Forest.
