We recently filled you in on the True Cleanse taking place twice this month, courtesy of delicious juices from Glory Juice Co. We loved their concept – and their juice – so much that we decided to visit them on West 4th and Vine to find out more about why this two-month old shop is quickly becoming a Kitsilano hot spot. Here are five fun facts about Glory Juice Co.

1) This is quality juice. Everything is 100% organic, meaning that you know it is totally pesticide-free. The fruits, veggies, and nuts are cold-pressed, which means that the oils and juices are literally squeezed out from an enormous amount of pressure, rather than extracted with heat. This leaves the enzymes as fresh and nutritious as possible, so that you are getting all their delicious benefits. You need to drink them up quickly though – the preservative-free juices have just a three-day life. (Everything is also dairy-free and gluten-free.)

2) The Glory Juice chef, Jen Bentall, was trained in France at Le Cordon Bleu! She invents all the recipes at the kitchen just a few blocks away on Macdonald and 25th. Which brings us to our third point . . .

3) Glory Juice is more than just juice. There is a selection of tasty snacks and treats, but our favourite discovery is their delicious nut butter. A combination of hazelnuts, almonds, and cashews with a hint of rock salt, it is the kind of good that makes you get up in the middle of the night for another spoonful.

4) Other than the fruit and vegetable juices, there is a selection of almond juices, or sweet almond milk. With different flavours to treat different ailments (the golden tumeric almond milk is anti-inflammatory) and to appeal to different taste buds (the vanilla fig almond milk adds something extra special to a cup of coffee), there is definitely something for everybody.

5) While Glory Juice Co. may be a Kitsilano baby, it is about to spread its wings and really take off. After just eight weeks on West 4th, there is already another opening planned for Quebec St. and E 2nd Ave in a month and a half. But a Kitsilano launching pad was a calculated move. As the brand expands so will its menu, and its up to the active, healthy, quality-oriented Kits community to help cultivate this growth.
