Kitsilano is lucky. Wanderlust, one of Canada’s larges travel stores, has held out on West 4th Avenue since 1989. In addition to handy travel accessories, maps and good advice, they have a fascinating book selection. We’re currently coveting Where Chefs Eat ($26.95), an insiders guide created by 600 chefs in 70 countries that contains details on 3,200 restaurants. René Redzepi, David Chang, Jason Atherton, Shannon Bennett, Helena Rizzo, Massimo Bottura, Yotam Ottolenghi, Yoshihiro Narisawa and hundreds more have shared their tips. The listings include city maps, reviews, reservation policies, key information and honest comments from the chefs themselves. Who would know better? Move over, Michelin.
