Here’s some good Kitsilano restaurant scoop. Former Oakwood Chef Mike Robbins is soon ready to open AnnaLena restaurant in the old Kits Daily Kitchen spot at 1809 West First Avenue. He’s partnered with Jeff Parr also formerly of Oakwood and now at Chambar. The food will be modern Canadian, which obviously he’s proven he can do well.

Scout reported some menu features, which may well change. Nevertheless, they are: “Pickle brine fried chicken with horseradish maple aioli; mussels in a garlic and fermented fennel broth with smoke essence; uni chowder with lobster tail and garlic butter mirepoix; and mashed potato chips with sweet and sour sauce.”

Opening day is next Tuesday. We’re interested, for sure, even if mashing your grandmother’s names together doesn’t make for a catchy moniker. The food sounds tasty and the design is fun and good looking. What do you think?
