If you’ve been hunting for yak dumplings in Kitsilano, the search is over. You can find them at Yak & Yeti Bistro, the Nepalese restaurant now open at West 4th and Bayswater. Yak & Yeti opened in late 2013, but it hasn’t come across our radar until only recently.

According to the July 16, 2014 review in the Straight, the momos (yak dumplings) are pretty nice and the yak meat in them comes from locally-raised, shaggy beasts. But the rest of the cuisine departs from the Nepalese name tag and turns out to be an odd mash-up of Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine which the chef/owner describes as other Himalayan street food.

Small plates run about $8 to $12 each, main dishes $12 to $16. According to the Straight, dinner for four (with two glasses of Merlot for the lone drinker) totalled $74 before tax and tip.
We haven’t visited yet . So if this piques your interest, give it a try and let us know if it was worth it.
