For New Year’s Eve 2014 they’ll take over the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. This will be the first NYE celebration at Vancouver’s “Castle in the City” in a decade. The entertainment will run from 9pm till 3am. The lineup is expansive and includes music, performance, and art for all tastes. Tickets are $99.

2. New Year’s Eve Robson Square
This downtown Vancouver NYE party isn’t decadent or crazy, but it is free. Enjoy tame, genuinely good times including outdoor ice skating (great for dates), sugar cookie decorating, live music, wandering buskers and a countdown.

3. New Year’s Eve at Science World
By day, Science World is knowledge central for inquisitive geeks. On NYE 2014, it’s a multi-floor party with over 1,000 attendees dancing to tunes spun by four DJs. Bonus: the venue resembles a giant disco ball. Tickets are $90.

4. New Year’s Eve at Fortune Sound Club
Head to Chinatown for NYE at one of Vancouver’s favourite nightclub venues. The crowd is casual East Van. Tickets are reasonably priced at $35 and include free bubbly at ball drop.

5. New Year’s Eve Vancouver Club Crawl
No need to commit to one location with this NYE club crawl option that kicks off at the venue of your choice (options: Roxy Nightclub, Ceili’s, Shark Club or Blarney Stone) and includes transportation between venues. This one is a hit with Vancouver university students. Tickets are $30-$40.
