Unless you’ve had your head (and growler) buried in the sand, you’ve probably heard about the half dozen craft breweries with tasting rooms slated to open in Vancouver since 2012. Here are the breweries that are now open and an update on breweries still in the works:

Last year, Coal Harbour Brewing and Parallel 49 Brewing Company opened across from each other on Triumph Streeet. Powell Street Craft Brewery opened nearby on Powell.

In late summer/fall 2013, the super hip 33 Acres Brewing Company opened on 15 West 8th near Main (and the new HootSuite office). Brassneck Brewery, perhaps the most hotly anticipated brewery opening thanks to its founder’s  Alibi Room cred, opened at 2148 Main Street at 6th Avenue.

Main Street Brewing should by open by December 2013 at 261 East 7th. Bomber Brewing is set to open in East Van at 1488 Adanac—also by Christmas. Meanwhile, a little ways out of town, Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers opened doors in Deep Cove just off Dollarton Highway.

While these new breweries aren’t serving food like their brothers in arms in Portland, you will find a rotating selection Vancouver food trucks parked outside on tasting days even all the way out in Deep Cove. This approach to grub is perhaps more fun than an in-house menu, especially in the colder months when Vancouver food trucks are elusive.

For those who don’t need to meet their brewers, Craft Beer Market will open in November in the good-looking Salt Building in Olympic Village and serve Canada’s largest draft craft selection with 140 taps including 55 from BC. The craft beer mecca is also an Ocean-wise certified restaurant.

All this to say that the Vancouver craft brewery wave is not cresting in Kitsilano. It’s happening in East Van and the suburbs. It’s well worth checking out at your leisure. You can always buy a growler and bring your favourite brew back to Kits.

Four Winds brewery in Delta also opened this year, and it’s delicious. And why forget Bridge brewing in North Vancouver?
Anyways, it’s happening. Right here. Join the Craft Beer Revolution in BC!
