khatsahlanoLooking for summer fun? Look local. Kitsilano hosts Khatsahlano! Music & Arts Festival, one of Vancouver’s best summer events, Saturday, July 13. Khatsahlano boasts a packed line-up with 50 local bands on 10 stages, an artisan market, food trucks and more. The event is free. The band roster is overstimulating. In fact, it’s Vancouver’s largest free music event all year.

We guarantee you this summer street party will be packed. So your best bet for having a great time is to plan ahead. Here’s what you need to know:

How much are Khatsahlano Festival tickets? Zilch. It’s free. Really.

When does Khatsahlano Festival take place? Saturday, July 13 from 11am to 9pm.

Where do you find the fun? The festival takes place over 10 blocks of West 4th Avenue, between Burrard Street and Macdonald Street. Festival main foot entrance points are Burrard and Macdonald, and side street entrances are at Cypress, Maple, Arbutus, Yew, Vine, Balsam, Stephens and Trafalgar.

How do you get there? We don’t recommend driving. Parking will be impossible and vehicles parked in restricted Kitsilano residential areas will be towed. If you live in Kitsilano, walk. Or use the on-site bike valet!

Which bands will play at Khatsahlano? There are 50 bands including 20 artists from the Peak Performance Project and 30 bands curated by the cool kids at Arrival Agency and Kitsilano’s very own Zulu Records. There will be performances on 10 stages by the likes of the Pack a.d., Brasstronaut, Rich Hope and His Blue Rich Rangers, Gold & Youth, No Sinner, Portage & Main, the Gay Nineties, the Bonitos, Rococode, and War Baby, along with the top 20 artists in the current round of the Peak Performance Project, including BESTiE, Good for Grapes, Lions in the Street, and Hannah Epperson. Browse the full band line up here.

What happens if it rains? The show must go on. Bring a brolly.

Can you bring your pet? Leashed pets and service animals are welcome on the festival site but are NOT permitted in food areas, restaurants or patios. Please make sure your pet does not bite, scare or inconvenience other guests and clean up after them.

How do you stay up to date on the food truck and artisan offerings and other Khatsahlano! art events?

Also on July 13: Kitsilano Showboat hosts the Kitsilano Boys Band Alumni Reunion at 7pm. Featuring guest conductor Dal Richards, and maybe even a solo by former Kits Boys Band member Jimmy Pattison.

  2. I know it’s last minute but is there anyway we can still buy a booth?

I am also interested to buy a booth in Khatsahlano Festival this year though it is very very late now.

Hi Harvi and Lauren. We don’t organize the booths. Check how to apply on the festival website (http://khatsahlano.com/) under FAQ. Cheers.

    Question

Between which streets intersecting Cornwall is the Show Boat located??

Where is appropriate parking space for attending the Show Boat performances.

    Thanks !!
