Fancy taking the kid(s) out for a walk around Kitsilano with that awkwardly large stroller? Easy enough if you’re sticking to outdoor turf, but what if your energy-zapped self requires some refueling?

Below are some family-friendly choices to grab a quick bite to eat and drink, with room for you and all your gear.

Seven Stroller-Suitable Spots for a Snack around Kitsilano

1. Plöger
This German deli has wide aisles, ample stroller parking inside, and outside seating for when the weather is cooperating. Imported specialty groceries, house-made sandwiches, schnitzels, and pastries, plus good, strong coffee. Try their pretzel croissants!
1900 West 1st Avenue, (604) 569-1848, Ploeger.ca

2. Plaisir Sucre
An authentically Parisian café without all that pretentiousness. Addictive croissants aux amandes, a play area for little awake ones, and a chance to practice those dormant French-speaking skills.
2668 Arbutus Street, (604) 736-0515, (no website)

3. Koko Monk
New in Kits, this tiny Turkish coffee shop and chocolatier may only have the capacity for one stroller but the owner, Paul, is so charmingly friendly plus he concocts the richest hot chocolate in town.
1849 West 1st Avenue, (604) 708-3366, Kokomonk.com

4. Elysian Coffee
This Elysian location could accommodate a few strollers inside, while it has some nice seating outside if it’s feeling too crowded. Stop by here for a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy not-too-sweet chai lattes, tasty shortbread treats, and a good newspaper (time permitting, of course).
1778 West 5th Avenue, (604) 734-1778, Elysiancoffee.com

5. Greens Organic + Natural Market
Perfect for all you vegans, locavores, and folks on a gluten-free diet, this BC owned grocery store (with good stroller clearance) has a cafe and deli offering a variety of healthy choices including flax rolls, interesting salads, and local organic coffee.
1978 West Broadway, (604) 568-3079, Greensmarket.ca

6. Chocolate Arts
Now located in the neighbouring Armoury District, this (former Kits) favourite has a lot of room inside for strollers and a nice sized patio too. Well known for their wonderfully exquisite chocolates, their newish cafe also offers light snacks and drinks.
1620 West 3rd Avenue, (604) 739-0475, Chocolatearts.com

7. Cafe Bica
Ok, since we’ve already ventured out east towards Granville Island, this dapper little spot should be mentioned. It has some space inside, seats and tables outside with a bit of overhead coverage, and awesome Pastéis de Nata (Portuguese egg tarts).
1809 Fir Street, (604) 733-8818, Cafebica.com
