Kits House hosts free storytelling and video workshops

Become a movie-maker in an afternoon at Kits House! On Nov. 11, 18 and 25, award-winning documentary film-maker Greg Orr will teach participants how to tell stories using the technology you already have, including your smartphone. This free workshop will give you the skills and guidance to start telling creative, thoughtful, entertaining and fun stories just like the professionals.

Kits House is offering FREE workshops to support people to make videos for the Kits House Project for Awesome Video Challenge. You can attend one workshop or all three.

Dates: Sundays November 11, 18 & 25
Times: 1:00-3:00pm (workshop) 3:00-4:00pm (optional coffee and chat)
Location: 2425 Vine Street (at West 8th Ave)
Cost: FREE

At the end of these workshops, you’ll have the skills and confidence needed to turn on that camera and end up with the story you wanted to tell. Then you can put it out there for all the world to see. And even if you choose to not pick up the camera, you’ll come away with a better understanding of the role such stories play in our lives be looking behind the curtain.

George Orr is an award-winning documentary film-maker whose professional career has focused on finding and telling compelling stories. From his beginning as a working journalist, and then as an educator who has taught the majority of broadcast and video-journalists in British Columbia, George has become a proponent of backpack journalism. With his training and guidance, you will gain the insight needed to use the modern technology to tell stories that will draw in the viewer, and entertain and engage your community.

    Today, Sunday, I went to the address listed on this post and there wasn’t anything there. Disappointed. Can’t find out where this video seminar is supposed to be in the links either. Anybody?
