Catch Italian Christmas music at St. Mark’s Anglican Church December 18

This one goes out to all the classical music buffs in Kits. Members of the Vancouver-based Pacific Baroque Orchestra will be performing rare or unsung, if you will, Christmas music from a 17th and 18th century Italian repertoire. Fatto per la Notte di Natale (The Real Italian Baroque Christmas) shows Sunday at Kitsilano’s St. Mark’s Anglican Church on Larch.

According to The Vancouver Sun, only two works on the program had anything amounting to particular fame – Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and J.S. Bach’s Pastorale. The rest should be a pleasant surprise for classical connoisseurs as well as your average festive Christmas concert goer. Artistic director Alexander Weimann said that his subliminal organization of the program was inspired by an Italian Christmas dinner in seven courses.
