The gorgeous weather on Sunday helped draw record crowds to Greek Day. Organizers estimate over 100,000 eager citizens joined the festivities in Kitsilano. The opening ceremony took place at the Krinos Main Stage with an appearance by Premier Christy Clark and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson. Despite the massive street party, Greek Day organizers reduced the the garbage by over half this year by teaming up with teamed with Smithrite Disposal & Recycling to go green.

They tweeted: “One entire roll off bin filled w/compostable organics #OPA.”

Opa, indeed.
