Spring Ball at the Billy Bishop

1794

Ah, spring. Maybe it’s the cherry blossoms that inspire romanticism. Or maybe budding nature brings out the courtship and mating rituals. If you’re feeling even the least bit romantic, check out the well-timed annual Ceroc Spring Ball at the Billy Bishop Hall (1407 Laburnum) this Friday night, March 26.

Ceroc (pronounced sir-rock) is an abbreviation of the French phrase c’est Rock. Ciroc dancing iss an energetic fusion of salsa and swing, danced to modern music. I was pleased to find out that it’s easy to learn and has no complicated footwork; the moves are taught in a lighthearted and non-technical way, with an emphasis on having fun. Each routine is broken down so the class rotates every few moves, so that you dance with a new person about every 3 minutes — making this a good way to meet and socialize without any pressure.

This event not only provides us with a community dance night that has been running in Kits for 3 years, but it also puts some much needed cash in the Legion coffers. After all the financial trouble that the Legion has been put through, your support counts greatly. The dance lessons, DJ, and licensed bar are all for $10 (members) or $12 (non-members). Please note that you must be 19 or older to attend.

Doors open at 7:30. For more information on the event, contact Kerry O’Donoghue at kerry@ceroc.ca or visit www.cerocvancouver.ca.
