Lost Streams Walks

September is Wild Salmon Month in Vancouver. Did you know that once there were abundant salmon streams running around Tatlow and Macdonald?

On September 19, historian Bruce MacDonald will be offering a walk to explore how old creeks developed to current Kitsilano streets. This walk is one of Lost Streams series being offered by the False Creek Watershed Society in remembrance of the salmon that once thrived within the city limits.

Lost Streams Walks Schedule:

Sept 12: Musqueam Creek: Vancouver’s Last Wilderness Stream
Sept 13: Gibby’s Field: remnant of the once-vast China Creek system
Sept 19: Tatlow & Macdonald Creeks: native creeks to city streets
Sept 19: Lake of the Head Creek: Dunbar’s wild coho heritage
Sept 20: Dunbar’s last wild Steelhead run
Sept 26: False Creek shoreline walk to Senakw

These walks are by donation, and will be led by Vancouver’s premier historians. If you want to join any of these Lost Streams Walks, you can register at The False Creek Watershed Society website.
