Shooting at old IGA

1753

The violence in Vancouver continues, and is not isolated to downtown. From the CBC:

The victim was taken to hospital after being shot in the parking lot of the IGA on Broadway near Arbutus Street around 11:30 [pm] PT, police said.

The recent spate of gang violence appears to be continuing across the Lower Mainland after a man was shot and wounded overnight Sunday in Vancouver’s normally quiet Kitsilano neighbourhood. A witness told CBC News that they saw two men shoot about eight to 12 shots at each other.

So this wasn’t “just” a targeted liquidation, it appears to be an actual shoot out. Near a supermarket. wtf.

    This is completely unnerving.

Friday night a young couple is killed via hit and run walking from Granville Island after an evening out together.

Now shots fired only a few blocks up from St. Augustine’s elementary school.

A hit and run down the street and now a shootout like a couple blocks from my house?! Crazy week… 🙁

@Vancityguy: “A few blocks up from St. Augustine\’s elementary school.”

Why go that far? It was kitty corner from Lord Tennyson.

…and a block from my place.

Was out walking my dog when the shots rang out. I’m about 7 blocks away and I counted 8 to 10 (can’t remember) VERY loud shots.

The dog was cool with it.

I was freaked out by it.
