Something Smells Fishy at Kitsilano Sushi

News1130 reports that after an eight month investigation, the RCMP has laid charges of tax evasion against five people. They are accused of using software designed to erase sales records from restaurant cash registers.

Kitsilano Sushi on Urbanspoon

One of the restaurants involved is Kitsilano Sushi on West Broadway (3105 @ Balaclava). I can’t say I have ever been, as the place just does not look appealing to me. And judging from their Urbanspoon score I’m not the only one.

[UPDATE: The CBC reports that between the 4 restaurants, they managed to make $3.8 million in sales disappear.]

here is a list of the restaurants:

The restaurants involved include ‘Sushi Man’ in North Vancouver, the Davie Street and Lonsdale locations of ‘Honjin Sushi’, and ‘Kitsilano Sushi’ on West Broadway.

  3. Next – all those Dim Sum places that only take cash at lunch.

Been to Kits Sushi many times. Great for a quick lunch or snack. Always pay cash, save the tax, friendly staff.

Hint to Revenue Canada; See all those places with “cash only” signs? Guess what software they are using… 😉

Why is it not mandatory that all business accept a minimum of 2 forms of payment, cash & debit or cash & credit. Any business who does not will face a fine, after 3 fines business license revoked.
