Melonhead, a children’s hair salon, has just opened up in Kitsilano, at 2962 West Broadway (@ Bayswater).

According to their website, they have a number of salons across Ontario, but this is their first location in Vancouver.

The place looks pretty good, and very child friendly with fun looking arcade seating. They also have some funky children’s hair products that they make in house. Check out the ‘Kids Only’ section of the website, where you can download some pictures to colour. If you bring it to the salon you will get 10% off of your first haircut.

We’ll definitely be checking them out soon. We’ve occasionally been going to The Hairloft at Granville Islands’ Kids Market, which is always packed and difficult to get an appointment. Melonhead will hopefully provide a great alternative.

It’s a cool looking place sure to appeal to kids.

That being said I wonder how they get a kid to sit still for a cut?

Had my sons “first real haircut” at Melon heads and it was a great experience.

We were going to the Hairloft however there always busy etc.

For $20, they did a GREAT job cutting my sons hair and since it was his first, they took a picture, gave a certificate for “first haircut” and left us with a lock of his hair.

Great experience and i’m hoping other kits parents endorse this place!
