West Broadway comings, goings, & unbuttonings

Just when you thought that the Kitsilano churro war was last summer’s news, the last hombre standing is now for sale. I’m pretty sure that it’s being represented by the same realtor who sold Churrolicious.  Incidentally, he is also brokering the sales of the Mighty Buck Dollar Store (beside everyone’s favourite interstellar pizza joint), the bartending school on that same block, another dollar store a few blocks west, and the Kitsilano Sandwich and Indian Cuisine cafe at Waterloo.  Clearly now is the time to get a piece of the Kits commercial pie.  Unfortunately, I have no entrepreneurial spirit to speak of.  I’m still trying to reconcile this with my decidedly ample not-wanting-to-have-a-boss spirit.

A new Japanese fusion place called Sai z on Broadway at Trutch is now open for business, offering a pretty awesome looking $9.00 lunch special as well as a Valentine’s Day tasting menu until February 18, along with their regular menu.   The interior photos on their website look gorgeous and I can’t wait to check it out.

Kits T-Shirt Express is ditching their storefront to go totally virtual.  Keep them in mind with slo-pitch season (sort of) just around the corner.  I only wish the Disciples of Chuck Norris’ softball skills had mirrored the t-shirt making prowess of these folks.  We would have been so awesome.

One final note:  I’d like to say sorry/you’re welcome to everyone on the eastbound B-Line at Macdonald around 4:30 pm today, who caught the free show when my shirt buttons popped open while I was taking my bike off the rackPun intended, of course.

  1. Kimmy says:

    A couple that I missed…

Four Corners Collectibles on West Broadway at Blenheim has final markdowns on their merchandise, in preparation for their closing on February 28, 2007.

Famous Donair has closed and the space is for lease. No word yet on where my Edmontonian friend will get his donairs before drunkenly passing out on my couch.

  2. I spoke with Jeff at the Mighty Buck Dollar Store and he told me that although he had listed the store for sale about a year ago, he’s changed his mind and taken the store off the market, and decided to stick it out in an overcrowded dollar store market along West Broadway.
