Although the annual Spot Prawn Festival took place on May 7, it’s not too late to cook up the catch of the season at home. Kitsilano’s 7 Seas fishmonger at 2328 West 4th has spot prawns in stock at $13.95 per pound. There’s no telling how long the spot prawn season will continue, so don’t wait.
For spot prawn newbies, let me emphasize that these shrimp are worth it. They’re the largest species available in Canada’s waters, and are known for their sweet, delicate flavor and firm flesh. Here are five spot prawn recipes that will inspire your inner chef.
