Rocky Mountain Flatbread continues to impress me as the most kid-friendly restaurant in Kitsilano – I’ve never seen a place with so many high-chairs. On top of that they make the best pizza in town likely because of their commitment to all natural organic ingredients.
While trying to make a decision last night on whether to get a regular or large spicy pepperoni pizza, our waitress mentioned that she had just blogged about the math behind the decision thanks to the work of a couple keen customers.
Curious to know whether the price increase over the 10″ was worth the extra money, Keo and Stan calculated the exact area increase of a 13″ pizza from a 10″ – answering the very question that boggles customers when faced with how much pizza to order. With only a borrowed pen and a scrap piece of paper, Keo and Stan calculated that a 13″ pizza is a 69% increase in area to a 10″, with a price increase of 63%.

This time every year Kitsilano.ca is hit by locals looking for something to do in Kits for New Year’s Eve other than Malone’s. So I thought I’d point out a couple options this week now that Biminis is toast.
The Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. is hosting a New Year’s Eve Dinner and Laughs Show. Doors open at 8pm with cocktails followed by Chef Oliver Zulauf’s five-course dinner featuring a succulent rack of lamb. Once the plates have been cleared away, Mr. Dan Joffre (2 times winner of Just for Laughs) takes the stage, accompanied by his Comedy Crew for a 90 minute set. The evening wraps up with dancing until 1:30 am following a midnight dessert buffet. The $99 per person ticket price includes the five-course dinner, comedy show, party favours, a glass of BC sparkling wine to toast the New Year, and dancing. Not bad.

Looks like we’ve got a new contender for best pizza in Kitsilano and finally another reason to visit Yorkville other than the Epicurean. Located in the former Bread Garden location on West 1st Avenue off Burrard, the new Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company is serving up a pretty tasty pizza-flatbread hybrid. They have completely gutted a stale restaurant space into an open, casual room where you can watch your pizza go from fresh ingredients to your plate via a massive wood-burning oven. Order the Spicy Pepperoni pizza – you won’t be disappointed.
