Brrr. Baby it’s cold outside. Best to get something warm and cozy, and there’s nothing warmer and cozier than a cup of melted hot chocolate. Here are three top places for hot chocolate in Kitsilano.

Thomas Haas

This chocolatier always makes our lists of anything confectionary. You just cannot go wrong with his delectable creations. There are three hot chocolates to choose from – Classic (at 65 percent cocoa), Extra Dark (at 75 percent cocoa), or Aztec (with a little heat and spice of chipotle and ancho chili pepper). You can also purchase these as dry hot chocolate mixes so you can re-create the moment at home. And any of your choices here will go damn fine with a side of their Double-Baked Chocolate Almond Croissants.

Chocolate Arts

Another chocolatier that’s dear to our sweet tooth, even if they’re a block out of our zone. Their hot chocolate shots are made to order from one of 12 possible single-origin cocoas which can be sampled and selected according to your personal preference. Try one with a baggy of their addictive Peanut Mallow Bites made with their house-made vanilla bean marshmallow and candied peanuts. And their Signature Hot Chocolate Mix is ready to take home, too.

Koko Monk Chocolates

This little cafe is always pouring its customers thick, luscious, and unusual hot chocolate drinks in tall glasses dripping with caramel. Owner Paul’s current flavour is Black Sesame Hot Chocolate with Lemon Caramel. Do have some of his equally unusual hand-crafted chocolates as well, such as the Blue Cheese Chocolate-filled Organic Figs, the Eggnog and Rum with Cinnamon, and the Oatmeal Stout with Nuts.
