Sweet BC scallops, melt-in-your-mouth ahi tuna, wild spring salmon candy, and fine grilled tarakihi.

These are just a few of the amazing seafood options that are available in our neighbourhood. Here are three of the best spots in Kitsilano to get these ocean treasures and more.

Oddfish

Opened just a few months ago, Oddfish is an inviting, fun mural-filled and not too serious seafood restaurant that’s quickly becoming a local favourite. Their tapas-style simple menu keeps things interesting with frequent changes and often includes fresh oysters, seared scallops, bowls of mussels or clams, grilled fish, and raw dishes like poke and ceviche. Try the $65 Seafood Hot Mess – perfect for sharing as it includes a variety of good stuff like lobster, clams, scallops, and prawns.

Hoke Poke

Add a tropical vibe to your lunch with Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls that are fully customizable from this newish take-out spot. Bright and clean, Hoke Poke is one of many poke restaurants that have sprung up in our city recently (poke is a raw fish salad btw). The fish here is super fresh and served fast so don’t be surprised if there’s a line-up come noon. Plus it’s fun to say that you’re going to the hoke poke.

F.I.S.H.

This fish counter on West Broadway prides itself on featuring local and sustainable seafood choices, and they sell both the ingredients and ready-made options for your sea feast (for those of you that are adventurous there are some unique ocean critters in this shop, too). Try their delicious house-made salmon candy nuggets and their crab and salmon cakes. Oh and they have poke bowls as well if you feel like having a third option for that.
