If you’ve read my past coffee articles you’ll have probably worked out that I’m a simple man.

However, whilst I’m definitely on the ‘Forest Gump’ simple scale, I’ve also got some simple tastes in food that get me excited, bread being one of those things. My desert island meal would be a French baguette and salty butter.

So it’s no surprise that I’ve got a soft spot for Beyond Bread Café, who are baking some of the best bread in Kitsilano, as well as having a pretty decent coffee selection, some great staff and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Vancouver Coffee Snob Recommendation: I’m a huge fan of their French baguettes so I’d recommend you first buy a couple of those. Then have a quick sword fight with them. When you realise that you’re actually in your 30’s and should act your age, order a latte (hopefully with Phil and Sebastian beans, but they have a rotating selection) and one of their amazing croissants. If you’re still hungry, their Madeleines are light and delicious and their batch brew filter coffee is always consistently tasty.
