story-timeIf you’re looking for something fun to do with your little one, try storytime.  Reading to children develops their vocabulary and language skills, teaches listening, builds their knowledge of the world and fires their imagination.  At storytime children also practice sitting still for extended periods of time, paying attention to an adult who’s not their parent and being quiet in group situations.

Storytime Programs in Kitsilano

Mama and Papa Goose at Kits Neighbourhood House

Infant and Toddlers, 6–18 months:  Tuesdays 11:30am–12:30pm, September 24–November 26
Cost: $60 + $10 Kits House Family Membership.  Register at Kits House to secure a place.

Mother Goose at Westside Family Place

Infants, newborn–12 months:  Mondays at 1.30–2.30 pm, October 21–December 2
Toddlers, 13–24 months: Mondays at 3.00–4.00 pm, October 21–December 2

Storytimes at Kitsilano Library

The Vancouver Public Library offers free, drop-in half-hour Storytimes.

  • Babies, newborn–18 months:  Wednesdays at 10.15 am and 11.15 am, September 11–October 2 and October 23–December 4
  • Toddlers, 18 months–3 years old:  Mondays at 10.15 am, September 9–September 30 and October 21–December 2
  • Preschoolers, 3–5 year olds:  Mondays at 11.15 am, September 9–September 30 and October 21–December 2
  • Man in the Moon (for babies and their dads):  Saturdays at 10.15 am, October 5–November 23.
