Kitsilano has more than its share of baby stores but children’s clothing stores are much harder to find in the neighbourhood, and affordable children’s clothing is even harder to come by.
Please Mum at West Broadway and Bayswater, a locally based company known for their reasonably priced, good quality children’s clothing has long served the neighbourhood and their newest venture, Spirit of Movement, hopes to further capture that market.
Spirit of Movement has taken over the former Spanx space at West 4th and Arbutus. The renovation seemed to happen overnight and, unfortunately, it shows. The space still feels dark and disjointed but hopefully it fills up with more merchandise and people in time.
The new store will focus on active wear for children aged 18months-14 years. All of the clothes are designed with movement and an active lifestyle in mind – perfect for a kid living in Kits! I took a look at a couple of items and thought the quality for the price point was pretty good. For reference, toddler long sleeve t-shirts were priced at $11.97, track pants at $14.97, and an all-weather jacket that I am thinking about buying my son was $19.99.
