Just in time for all the New Year’s Resolution fitness goals Steve Nash Sports Club has completed a huge acquisition purchasing the fitness powerhouse Fitness World.
The aquisition of Fitness World by Nash, New Evolution Fitness Company and investment firm Angelo, Gordon & Co. has been in the works for about six months and was announced Monday December 21st.
I read about the news in the Province’s article titled, “NBA’s Steve Nash buys Fitness World“. At my workout today at the former Kitsilano Fitness World I was surprised that Steve Nash Sports Clubs signs were already going up.
On a personal note, I’m ecstatic about this news. I like many have stuck with Fitness World through the years due to their location and reasonable rates. In exchange I deal with the average staff, broken equipment and overpriced “specialty classes”. I’m excited at the changes this merger will bring to this popular workout spot.
I sure hope this doesn’t mean a premium price to have the words ‘Steve Nash’ on my membership card.
Hopefully they start by getting another squat rack for the Kitsilano Fitness World and some heavier dumbells.
